A major event itself, the Royal Rumble is the official kickoff to WrestleMania season. While the event features other matches on the card, the biggest draw of the Royal Rumble is the actual Rumble match. As a tradition, the winner of the Royal Rumble faces the WWE champion in the main event at WrestleMania for the title, but that won’t be the case this year. For the first time ever the WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be defended in the Rumble.
However, that wrinkle in the event hasn’t led to higher prices on the secondary market. In fact, 2016 Royal Rumble tickets are currently at a four-year low by average. The current average for this year’s Rumble held at Orlando’s Amway Center is $206.71, above only 2012’s $193.73 average over the past five years. However, this year’s get-in price is the most expensive over the past five Rumbles at $75.
The most expensive average price for Royal Rumble tickets came in 2014 in Pittsburgh. However there was negative fan reaction to the pay-per-view after Daniel Bryan was not put in the Rumble match after wrestling Bray Wyatt earlier in the night and the end result of Batista winning the Royal Rumble.
There’s still much to be known about the card for this year’s Royal Rumble, but with the added stakes to the match it’s not a surprise most of the focus will be on the 30-man match. Two other title matches have been added to the card, for the United States championship and Diva’s championship.
Below is a list of current Superstars entered into the 2016 Royal Rumble
This will continue to be updated as more Superstars are officially included in the match. Of course in true Royal Rumble fashion not every entrant will be named beforehand, leaving room for surprise entrants and returns. With less than a week until the event, there are still not many entrants confirmed, which leaves many open spaces for the match. It was revealed this past Monday night on RAW that Roman Reigns would be the first entrant in the match, needed to defeat the 29 other Superstars in order to retain his title.
